What the folks at the Marriage Tribunal thingy neglected to tell me was that even though the service to have your marriage annulled was 'free' *gags*...a donation of $1500.00 would be most gratefully be accepted.

*eek*

Mind, you can opt to break it down into 3 payments of $500.00 dontcha know?

And if you do NOT donate the $1500.00 that would in no way impact the service delivery and decision you get from the Marriage Tribunal?

*rolls eyes*

I have a question here for you lot....erm, did you hear my hubby screaming all the way over there?

Ah, sorry, now you know what it's like to be shafted by the RC's ...everything has a price...and that's a lot for a piece of paper...personally, I'd tell them what to do with the box for the donation and the piece of paper annulling your marriage...big hugs

  Jake...hubby and I married May 15, 1993. I want to convert to Catholicism. Hubby is already a Catholic and believes the fee to annul my first marriage is nothing but extortion.

My thoughts echo Jake's; if this 'free' service costs $1500, what the heck would they charge if it wasn't free?

And what would they do if you said, "Sorry, it's advertised as a FREE service and as such I really couldn't pay you with a clear conscience. How would I know I wasn’t involved in embezzlement?"

I think that's a disgrace. What if you didn't *have* $1500? I, for one, couldn't suddenly raise the equivalent in sterling. Mind you, I suppose they charge for baptisms, marriages and funerals, so you could put it under that classification too.
